An aluminum billet, also called an aluminum billet, is a small, semi-finished piece of metal that is rectangular, circular, or square in shape. It is a semi-finished casting product that must be further processed before becoming the finished product.

WHAT ARE THE FEATURES OF ALUMINUM BILLET?

The most important issue when obtaining billet from aluminum scrap or aluminum shavings by melting method is that there is little or no iron in the molten aluminum flour. Because if the iron ratio is high during the aluminum profile drawing, traces may occur in the extrusion and this is an undesirable situation. Aluminum shavings are heated up to 700 degrees and tried to be purified. Meanwhile, the temperature of the oven can reach 1000 degrees.

Aluminum melt from the furnace is poured into crucibles. At this time, there should be absolutely no water in the pots. Because when water comes into contact with hot aluminum, it causes explosion. Many people have been injured in this way.

The aluminum poured into the ladles for billet production is cooled by operating the cooling system and then removed from the ladles.

Due to their fixed cross-sectional shapes and sizes, aluminum billets are extrusion, which is the most suitable process for obtaining the product. Alloys used for the production of aluminum profiles with the extrusion process are in the forged alloys group.

6XXX Series Alloys

Profiles from facilities for architectural purpose are produced by extrusion, target 6XXX arrangement. Among them, preferential AA 6XXX series alloys contain program (Mg) and silicon (Si), with different properties to other impurities (Fe, Cu Mn, Zn method) alloys together with Mg and Si. For example, 6XXX alloys with an Iron (Fe) content of 0.20% or less are more suitable for the surface. High iron should be preferred to obtain a matte surface.

Among the 6XXX series (AlMgSi) alloys, 6060 and 6063 (in EN and new TS notation) and AlMgSi0.5 (DIN and old TS notation) alloys are the most widely used in the architecture - construction industry. The chemical structures in technology are the same, those shown above and below.

6005/6005A

We learn by comparing EN AW / AA 6005, 6005A alloys, 6063; Any alloy that is harder, has stronger mechanical properties, but is expensive, difficult to extract, or complex geometries that make it difficult to define.

Profiles intended from the 6005A program will be anodized for protection, but are rendered difficult to view as they are finished.

Plastic forming is not good.

6060

It is the surface that is necessary for what is necessary for what is necessary. It is preferred for preferences such as furniture profiles.

6063

Application areas: Window and facade systems sections, furnishings, frame systems, lighting, steps, rail modules, electro motor frames, fasteners, regulators, doors, pneumatics, irrigation, furniture profiles. It may be possible for 6063 to be slightly harder but more difficult to extrude than 6060.

Characteristics: High in corrosion, very good weld, complex from weak samples, form in complex geometries.

6082

Compared to 6005, its toughness is slightly better, but its susceptibility to decorative anodizing is slightly worse. Other properties are similar to alloys 6005 and 6005A. They will repeat:

EN AW / AA 6082 alloy is provided by comparison with 6063; Any alloy that is harder, has stronger mechanical properties, but is expensive, difficult to extract, or complex geometries that make it difficult to define.

6082 processed profiles are anodized for protection.

Plastic forming is not good.

Application areas: Heavy structures in railway wagons, truck guardrails, construction industry, bridges, bicycles, platforms, sectors, industrial parts, pylons, masts, awning pipes, rivets

Characteristics: High corrosion resistance, very good weld, suitable for machine construction, very good formability in stabilized form after T4 heat treatment, moderate trouble, not suitable for complex parts.

6101

For profiles with high electrical conductivity and at the same time, 6101 alloy may be suitable. 6101, which has high electrical conductivity, is better in cutting direction than 1XXX series alloys.

6463

It is the most suitable alloy of bright aluminum.
